ABOUT
SASKATOON BLACK
BUSINESS NETWORK
Empowering Black Entrepreneurs. Building Inclusive Economies.
The Saskatoon Black Business Network (SBBN) is a community-driven, not-for profit organization dedicated to empowering, supporting, connecting and advocating for Black entrepreneurs in Saskatoon, across Saskatchewan and beyond.
We exist to remove barriers, unlock opportunities and help Black-owned businesses start, grow and thrive.

WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2023 by Dr. John Owojori and Tosin Fetuga, SBBN was launched to address the persistent challenges confronting Black entrepreneurs – barriers such as limited access to capital, systemic discrimination, restricted networks, lack of visibility and inequitable opportunities.
Today, SBBN stands as a reliable hub for business growth, collaboration and advocacy. We connect entrepreneurs with corporate partners, financial institutions, government agencies and community leader —creating a powerful ecosystem.

WHY IT MATTERS
When Black businesses succeed, communities grow stronger.
Statistics Canada projects that Canada’s Black population will continue to grow, reaching
approximately 6% of the total population by 2034. By then, an estimated 2.6 million Canadians will
identify as Black, that is nearly one million more than in 2024. In 2020, approximately 144,980
Black-owned businesses operated in Canada, accounting for 2.4% of all businesses nationwide.
SBBN is therefore on a mission to build bridges between Black entrepreneurs and the broader
economy, between local and global markets and between today’s innovators and future
generations.
MISSON
To empower, connect, and advocate for Black entrepreneurs by advancing economic inclusion, business growth, and meaningful collaboration.
VISION
A thriving, connected and self- sustaining community of Black entrepreneurs who are visible, empowered and recognized as key contributors to Saskatchewan’s and Canada’s economic growth
